have purchased a 1991 v8 4 litre limited soarer just this week. The drive home from the dealer was fine other than minor sounds coming from the shocks when going over bumps(is this to be expected with a second hand soarer?). Then being the 4.0 litre v8 as it is it was time to fill up my baby for the first time. The dealer had told my brother to fill the car up with normal unleaded because it was a 14 year old engine. Though me being the stubborn person i am filled the car with a half tank of bp optimax (hearing that all import cars run on a higher octane gas and thinking if it runs well on normal unleaded it should run great on bp ultimate). the car ran fine on the 5 minute drive home from the gas station and ran fine early the next morning for about half an hour into the drive into work. After that i felt a jerkiness in the cars acceleration once on the way into work. I didnt know what to think of it and hoped it was just a one time thing. On the drive home from work it continued to happen more frequently, and would have periods where the car would run fine then jerk again on acceleration and just before coming to a stop on slowing down. Am racking my brains as to what would have caused this problem. Could it be that the car needs to run on normal unleaded? or is it more likely to be the shocks? Am in desperate need for advice, and i hope i was not an unlucky person jipped on a car sale
