tried the starter motor method and used a rattle gun with no success
so
1) welded a 22mm socket onto 1.5m length of strong 50mm angle iron.
2)to stop the motor turning i cut a length of 6mm steel plate, ~70mm wide that when attached to the harmonic balancer would lock on the rhs chassis. at one end i made a 30mm hole for the 22mm socket to go thru, and across the centre line of this hole at 65mm centre to centre i drilled 2 10mm holes. I attached this plate to the harmonic balancer using 2 8mm high tensil bolts into the existing holes on the balanceer.
With the leverage of a 1.5mm rod, the bolt is easily loosened. It can be tightened with thhe plate locking on the LHS chassis
