I ended up using small screws to fix the lid. This way I can take it off easier when I want to.

The cold air thing will sort itself out once the FMIC goes in. There is a straight shot from this area into the filter. I was looking at the road car today- you can see the stock filter (BFI) from the front bar opening when you lie down.

At the moment there is plenty of room for cold air to get in due to the fog light removal.
