The moment of truth!

The new battery is fully wired through to the starter motor. From the battery top to the starter motor there is 0.02V drop (12.98V to 12.96V) and when the isolation switch was turned there was no crazy arcing out or electrical fires.

So, I started the car and it went first go. I can't tell you how relieved I was that I hadn't missed anything. I was quite worried I might have gone too small on the battery. I started the car four times in the space of a few minutes just to check it would handle the current draw. All that remains to do is start it at 0deg in the morning.

I should mention that the exhaust is VERY LOUD with dump pipes only. That quickly drew the wife out to the shed. She remarked that it obviously starts, so I had best get the exhaust done!

The new front pipe has been welded up and fitted. The car is a lot louder than it used to be. That should shut Paul up, who thinks it is too quiet for a race car. The whole thing sounds like it is breathing easier, and revving a bit more freely.

It is not all good news, however, as there is a small coolant leak from the bottom radiator pipe straight under the front turbo. I must have done something when I was working in that area. Hopefully I can fix that easily enough. It looks like it is coming from under the factory spring clamp.
