You know you have spent too much time on your track car when...

...you are waiting for your road car to get it's rego inspection done and the guy walks in and says "what's going on? I remember when you used too take good care of this car"

Ouch!

When I got home I looked at the car and realised what he meant. Outside needed a wash. Got it. I live in an open cut coal mining area so it almost always needs a wash. But lift the bonnet and it looked like it had spent the year at Chernobyl. The interior has a deep layer of what can only be described as body fat and dirt on all the flat surfaces, and there are brown stains in the carpet and something sticky on the rear seat.

So I spent a couple of hours this arvo cleaning the carpet, seats, glass, engine bay etc. Gave the outside a wash but you won't be able to tell tomorrow.

Trying to remove the sticky substance from the rear seat proved troublesome. It turned out to be melted adhesive from one of the child booster seats in the back. Ordinary cleaners were not working so I thought I'd try white spirits (dry cleaning fluid) as I had heard good things. The problem is, it is in the exact same bottle as my Septone wax and grease remover (usually used as paint prep etc).

Anyway, it turns out Septone wax and grease remover is an excellent cleaner for getting adhesive out of cloth interiors. Now the anxious wait to see if the colour does something drastic etc.
