I had my first ever motorkhana today. The Soarer was surprisingly OK at this. I was at the pointy end of the field first run. Second run I got lost. Hmmm this is harder than it looks.

Had fun, but handbraking on $400 semi slicks made me feel ill. I simply could not find a set of wheels to go over the supra rear brakes so I could run some 'thrash' tyres. (this is a technical motorkhana term apparently).

I also did my first ever 'drift mod'. I gaffa taped the handbrake button in and wound in the handbrake cable to take up the slack. I had a shower when I got home- I just felt dirty.

More importantly, towards the end of the day a couple of race cars turned up for some testing. I asked how I could get on the track and was told I'd need to sign on. So I did, and turned 15 or 20 laps of the full Hidden Valley circuit. Great fun. I had to map the track with the Racechrono, and put some sectors in. Once I did that racechrono told me I could do better- so I did. I ended up lapping 1:25.1. Which might be good. The commodore cup guy was pretty impressed. I might have to look up some times on NATSOFT. It is better than my time in the Rx-7 of 1:36odd (4 years ago!), and I thought that car was fast!
