If they are running the 'accepted' time attack rules then they should be running on the semislicks in an approved tyre list (likely similar to the CAMS approved tyre list). I know you cant run slicks at superlap, or the time attack challenge thing they were running in QLD. Same goes in time attack USA, although there are a few different organisations sanctioning time attack events.
But if they are running full slicks then there are a few seconds there alone.
