Ben, it may be that Telstra don't have any spare ports in that exchange.

2Mbps is quite usable for most things. Consider that the old dialup modems have a theoretical maximum of 56Kbps, then your 2000Kbps is 35 times better.

The original Telstra ADSL offerings were only up to a maximum of 1.5Mbps, most people getting 256Kbps or 512Kbps as the 1500Kbps was quite expensive being the premium product.
