I have been having a look around online: it seems there are a few performance shops selling the adaptor to remove the stock oil cooler. Driftmotion, Titan,Gameon, Marks Engineering etc all have one for sale.
Haven't found any stated reasons to remove the oil cooler beyond having more room to work on lower manifold.
