Yes the diff has oil in it. And the gearbox does too, now. I know this because I started the car with the gearbox filler plug out and found the gearbox was capable of spitting out it's oil at a rapid rate. Another 3L of bloody oil then went in and the filler plug replaced. I don't think my gearbox actually likes the taste of oil...
