The weekend was miserable and cold. Through the use of thermal underwear and a bar heater I persevered and got the front bar repaired. I skinned the splitter in carbon, with the damaged area getting about 5 layers to restore some strength. It is only a wet layup, so no glossy finish, more like very expensive paper mache.
The damaged mount was thoroughly cleaned out with a dremel to give some raw fibres and a flat surface to work with. I shaped a piece of aluminium (with a hammer and a tyre, LOL) to suit the compound curve. This was bonded in behind the bar with some epoxy and the whole lot covered in a couple layers of carbon.
Tomorrow it will get sanded to the final shape. Hopefully it fits up OK.
