Aaron has given me an old V8 steering column to play with. I stripped it tonight, taking over 6kg of 'stuff' off the bare shaft. The shaft weighs 2.45kg
The plan is to fabricate a shaft that mates up to the original either at the slip joint (27mm diameter) or closer to the end where the shaft s 17mm in diameter. I'll have a look at what tube is available with either 17 or 27mm internal diameter, or close to it and then decide where the shaft gets the chop.
