all you need to do it get some matting paste and a bit of scotch brite pad to take the gloss off. then prepsol it off ,then PLASTIC primer ,wait 30 mins ,then put your colour straight over the plastic primer, no need to rub it. and yes you can just use $5 can ,if it is a matt finish the application method wont matter to much. if it is a gloss, you need to make sure you over lap the coats and make sure they are wet coats not put on to dry, or you will get dry edges between each coat. hope this helps .
