Hi Folks,
I am planning to do either an LS400 or a Supra break upgrade to my V8. I am stuck with the following issues.

My V8 Soarer brake disc sizes (2 Pot caliper):
Diameter X Height X Thickness (in MM)
----------------------------------
Front: 275 X 49.5 X 28
Rear: 291 X 67.5 X 16

I heard from various forums that these can be upgraded to either a late LS400 4-pot brakes or to a MK4 UK Supra TT 4-pot brakes

LS400(95-00)
-------------
Front: 315 X 53.5 X 28
Rear: 307 X 67 X 16

MK4 Supra 3.0 TT (UK Spec not JSpec)
-----------------------------------
Front: 323 X 50 X 28
Rear: 324 X 67.5 X 16

Now correct me if I am wrong,
1) To do an upgrade you need discs, pads, calipers, break hoses/lines, brake fluid and tools. Nothing else?

2) As the discs for either of these models are much bigger than the stock V8 ones, the dust covers no longer fits so it either needs to be removed or replacing with bigger supra ones.

3) LS400 calipers are lighter than supra ones, but still the braking distance is the almost the same for either of these brakes.

4) LS400 brake upgrade costs less than the supra TT brakes upgrade.

5) Neither of these upgrades cause any ABS problems. ABS works fine(no faults) and the light on the dash will not be ON.

6) No body can guarantee that a particular set of alloys will fit these big brakes even though the Offset of the alloys is 50. It depends on the rim structure of the alloys.

7) But the alloys that fit a Supra TT (93-99) will fit the soarer with upgraded brakes, even though the offset of the alloys is less than 50 (say 35).

8) To get better braking, Do I need to do the rear brakes as well along with the fronts? The rear break disc size doesn't seem to be bad. Tho it has a 2 pot caliper.

Please let me know your view regarding this upgrade. Do I need to know or be concerned about any thing else other than the above.

Thankx
