Welcome Alex We have a VVTi 3.0 and it's beautiful, but I think you'd be getting the earlier pre '97 model. There's nothing wrong with the 3.0 performance-wise although we are more into long-distance travel rather than outright acceleration (not that we cruise very far on a small island)
Before we got our first Soarer I checked a few places for insurance and the 3.0 was the cheapest, followed by the V8 then the TT.
Try a few before you buy- the V8 would be nice, the 3.0 is the lightest and most economical of the three models. They often don't have the trappings of the TT and UZZ31/32 though, like TEMS. Our first 3.0 was/is a poverty pack but still has the premium sound system, and the rear wiper/spoiler combo. The '97 VVTi is G-Pak (power seats/tilt) with woodgrain the pov-pak missed but doesn't have the premium sound system with rear sub-woofer. Few of these cars are the same despite appearances.
