Mike, it might be apples and oranges. Over here, the number rating is RON which is an energy measure as opposed to Octane which is a measure of how hard it is to ignite the fuel. Higher octane means less pinging for example,
So your Premium 91 may in fact be the better fuel in terms of power and efficiency.
There has also been some discussion about the effects on Ethanol on various components in the fuel system over a period of time, and our cars were designed and built before Ethanol was much of an issue.
