I'm pleased somebody brought this subject up as I'm really tired of seeing Americanisms creeping into our society and diluting it to such a degree as to subjugate our own culture. There are many examples of this. Not just acronyms but expressions and words. One that erks me a lot is the use of 'ass' when the correct term in Australia at least is 'arse'. Yes, I am old, I'm Australian and I'm proud of it. BTW I don't wear NY caps.
