| Marlew work van getting power up grade well the time has arrived and the little work van is being modified. after being beat by a suzuki swift by 0.3 kw it was time to do something about the lack of power. the little van is a Toyota lite ace 91' model when i bought this van it was a mess so the old motor came out and a 5K went in (1500cc) but i had a drama with the gearbox NO 5th gear. the poor little thing at 90Kmph you were half expecting the motor to jump up on the seat beside you. That in its self wouldn't have been a biggy as the motor would have sat there quite easily hahaha. Any way; After measuring up every thing under the van and then the donour motor and box. Earlier this week the job has started. the old motor and box come out, then a couple of crossmembers as well. just a little bit of the back of the van has been used up as well. Now the time comes to see if the every thing will go in the massive hole i have created and line up to the diff????? After a little juggling and moving around the place. IT BLOODY FITTED. Yesterday was the day to make the crossmembers for the engine mounts and also the gearbox crossmember today is finish off all crossmembers then start mounting the Go bits stay tune more to come as it gets done |

| Craig ; problem solvered mate I made a down swept manifold and put a T67 Greedy single turbo on it.the turbo sits just above the engine mount. and the top of the manifold is about 5" away from the engine cover. But yes the heat shield will go on as well i start making the new intake manifold tomorrow as that has to be lower as well. the throttle body will be about the height of the power steer pump in the pic below NO air con pump OR power steer pump power steering is going on the van (Nissan silvia) that rack and pump looks like it will JUST about bolt straight in there ...(famous last words)hehehe |

| well things are progressing along nicely. the front section of the floor has been cut out and radiator mounted. also front of van has been cut to mount another air intake for the radiator intake manifold is being welded up. the drive shaft is on (cute little thing) about 7" long from uni to uni . if that spits out i won't even hear it hit the ground. and my computer arrive this morning (thanks Andrew) this is going to be scary. |

| well things are moving slowly along; front bumper has been cut and meshed. front mount has been fitted. tunnel from front of car to motor has been completed. i sat here for 2 hours on sunday sorting out what wires went were for the haltech (only to find out several wires had been cut back and thay were wires that i needed) and started the rewiring of the engine and coil packs. single 3" exhaust is finished. things will slow down on the van now whilst i move workshops. the aim is to have it all done with in the next 2 months. |

Runs 11.1's but the mph is down because of the brick like aerodynamics Liteact being a bit "lighter" ironically should be good. What diff are you using? brakes? chute? What is the stock weight of a liteace? |

| Chris; weight? Mate i have no idea but i can push it around the workshop easily with the motor and box in it. Chris i recon the weight would be around 1 ton I will take it down and weigh it when its finished diff? that will be a hilux limited cut down with ladder bar set up eventually using the hilux rear brakes the front brakes i am still thinking about that one possibly a set of TT soarer . chute? may have too. that will come later, I don't want to go over board with chutes as the car will be still street driven right now but before it is track ready it will be fully role caged . Being a very short and narrow wheel base this thing is going to be scary. fuel system is now done carter lift pump 2lt surge tank 044 main pump 540cc injectors. intercooler is in position with air ducts in place Just need to do the pipe work for intercooler this week end and then the wiring starts |

The Van is at another workshop getting the Haltech sorted out if it comes down to it by next friday and nothing has been done to it i will rip the haltech out and ram it up some ones clacker and put a microtec in By looking at the Microtec site it will be a heaps easier system to fit and even i could get it done in a day |

Neil; I recon i won't need the brakes to get it motivated to start off.hehehehehe O yer Neil my truck! sittin on the engine when finished not enough leg room if the motor is up front (quad cam) The back and side of block (drives side) sits right were the clutch pedal was. and it has to be a lazy under the arse as well the rear of the front leafs will be right at the end of the standard chassis then the lazy after that so i can add 2 meters to the lenght it all starts next week end |

Hope it all goes well and dont cost you an arm and leg with the temp sensor fix. i have similar probs with the way my ecu is set up. The water temp sensor it wired in but the jumper was never changed in the emanage. somehow this is altering the temp signal to the stock ecu and messing with things.. atleast i know under load when it is hot its ok to boot it. |

| picked the van up last night, I still have to send the haltech off to be checked over BUT the van can still be driven (sort of) the tune has restricted the revs to 4000 and boost to 3-5 psi, BUT even at that its instant steering lock.hahahahahahha at 40-50kms it is on 3psi of boost and wants to launch its self down the road not forgetting it has been limited to 4000rpm the gearbox is changing But as Ben pointed out to me on the phone that the speed sensor isn't the best sensor to run the supra stick from so i have to check out some other sensor to run it from not really fussed about that as it will be manually changed most of its life. so monday the haltech gets sent off for repairs and then its back to the tuner for a decent run on the rollers |

| Sorry Lew, I feel guilty, I will apologize, even though I had noooo idea. I certainly didn't tamper with it as you know. Interestingly, I would love to know why they took the temp sensor chip of the circuitboard. How they knew what to take off, the desire to do that, and how it could possible work with it missing? Could be to make the ecu run in cold mode all the time, but 1) its a programmable ecu, who cares you could program around this anyway. 2) you can just wire a resistor in to get around it. Absolutely confusing.... |

| Well i have just got back to the workshop from the dyno. 5 hrs of dyno time and the result was not to bad. i was actually expecting more. BUT we didn't push the boost through the roof. I have a small leak in the intake gasket around number 2 and just behind the throttle body so when the result was shown i thought thats enough then the dyno guy said youbetter add another 10% to the result as the dyno is out so in total i have a toyota lite ace that will kick arse. you ready now .HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA 234rwkw@16 psi also it weighs with a full tank of fuel and me in it 1.42 ton |

| Richard HAHAHAH the standard lite ace diff mate thay are only a baby 7" diff but have some mean mother teeth in there.it is a 4.3:1 ratio i have another one sitting on the side that i have a mechanical LSD centre to fit in it. but i have to make sure the axles will fit in the centre thay are actually an AE86, Tarago, diff Craig leaving here on the 26th so i will see you on the week end following i will be in Ballarat at mums and Josh's then reepas. then Anglesea to see my brother then to your place and finaly home again. to be back here by the 2nd some thing like that "O" yer its great not hitting the rev limiter any more. we played with the supra stick so it would stop trying to jump off the rollers so some of the settings are screwed now i will have to sort them out this week some time and also fit the manual controls for the trans. so i really can't foot it to well right now. but it has scared me all ready.hehehehehhehe ME a NUT........ NEVER just a some one that doesn't want to grow up. heheheheh |

| BTW good dyno result I made 230rwkw@15psi with smaller turbo so it probable is a little understated if the tune is good Depending on weight you should be able to trap around 115mph which is good for an 11 with about 1.7 60 ft |

| Good stuff In a normalish more aerodynamic vehicle, I get 117mph for 1.42t or 3124lbs and 249rwkw. So probably about 115mph with your brick For ref, there is a guy with a gt35 1j that was running 32psi with a pretty decent tune on c16 and he was trapping 122mph. Ran 11.1 though cause it launches like a mofo! A cressida with similar power will trap around 125-127mph and AFAIK they are a tad heaver than hiace at 3350-3400lbs plus driver Can't wait to see your van race! Have to get vids! I am off to Japan in a month so I may not be able to get there to watch or race you Unless you want to race at streetcar shootout on 24th Nov BTW for your ref most hilux's are 1410mm drum to drum whereas hiace's are 1470mm. I have hiace in my car and it isn't shortend so I am limited to using wheels with high +ve offset. 15X6.5's with +45 at the moment. Fronts 15X4 -10 |

| Tai; "O" ye of little faith!!!!!!!!! hahahahahahahah I have raised the front up a little and put new shocks and stuff under the front. It is still very tight in the arse end but that can't be helped (YET) With the weight between the front and back axles it actually sits better on the road and is nothing for it to hit 170kms an hour and feel not to scary at that speed. mind you i only did it once and when thay(nuts)dropped back to were thay should be i felt a little more comfortable. HAHAHAHA really it does sit better on the road. just trying to sort out the shift pattern on the auto controller i seem to have got it fairly well right up top just have to do some minor adjustments for cruise. then set up the manual controls. |

| The dramas have started.hehehehehe well little ones any way; about a month ago i melted the forward friction plates in the trans. the only good thing about that was the trans stopped slipping hehehehehehheehhe the diff also decided it was time to end its life. well i can't blame it for giving up. Poor little thing... So Aristo auto with shift kit has now been fitted just connecting the B&M pro rachet shifter and MV's auto computer box thingy. Diff is a 2wd hilux (pick that up on Monday) Exhaust has been changed to a nice neat side pipe because the diff housing was belting the 3" exhaust pipe to death over bumps. with the diff going in it next week i can then work out how far i have to cut out the back to run mini tubs the tyres will be 31" high on 15" rims and am looking at around 10-11" wide. i will see how i feel when the time comes. any way that about it for now. |

| Scott Mate you don't have to manualize the auto to fit one. The shifter is a great idea for drag racing. You can just belt the lever and you know it will only hit the next gear until you belt it again. SLIGHTLY INSANE????????????? hahahhaha NAR mate I've lost it.hahahahahahaha i think it all started because the year we moved up here from VIC it was one of the hottest summers up here and my workshop was so small i had no room to put any thing so i thought i better use it or loose it!!! I lost it.LOL |

| Scott; Mate i haven't yet used the MV's shift controller I have had some dramas with coupling 2 push/pull cables together so i can select the gears properly I have got to get a single cable made up next week So with this drama I will leave the supra stick in the van until i get the cable. the B&M is in I now have an Aristo auto in and a G series Hilux diff this morning i am replace the rear wheel bearings as one is making some noises. Other than that with a LSD diff in it now it is Bloody awsome to drive I have now got 2 diff centres 4.8 and 4.1 ratios once i tub the bum with the drag slicks then i will decide what ratio will stay in it. with a 4.8 ratio diff and 26 " high wheels it is reving about 4000 rpm at 100kmph so with 29 1/2"high slicks i am yet to see what happens |

| Up date; Had a few leaks in the intake manifold due to warping when it was made (now machined flat) It will have to go back in on the dyno shortly for a check up just to make sure after the manifold being corrected. Well after fitting the 4.8 diff in the van it was screeming its tits off. so out it came. it now has a 3.58:1 4 pinion LSD out of a 2002 hilux. F**K me does this thing fly down the M1 now. 2000rpm and its doing 105kmh Supra stick has been removed and a MV Auto controller has now been fitted combining the controler with a B&M pro ratchet shifter is a very good combination the best control over the auto so now with more control it shoots off like the rocket it should be. also having the B&M in there you have 3 gears on the shifter and also control over the O/D and torque converter lock Via a switch. hahahahahahha Still getting used to that side it doesn't like it when ya forget to switch the O/D off and then try to take off. But if ya forget to unlock the torque converter BOY O BOY what a difference that makes. So now it is Brake up grade time for the front the backs are hilux all ready so that is good. |

| Hi Lew, is the 3.58:1 diff out of a manual hilux? They would be the ones marked as an A series diff but are still 8" and interchangable with the old g series right? Also, if you don't mind me asking, how much do they go for? |

It now has a 1.5j in it with 150Hp shot of nos down its throat. it still has heaps more potential BUT in the van body that is rusted out it is not a wise move It has 502Hp it is on Youtube under Ballistic brick dyno run. |
