It's only rubber. Surely that wouldn't cost much new from Toyota!! Oh yes it does.

Hey Avin,
as Neil says, these things quite commonly have fine cracks in them (it's sorta normal), and rarely require replacing, and as Peter has said, they ain't cheap (around $300!).

It sounds to me more like an inexperienced tester assuming that if it's got visible cracks it's rooted, which is not normally the case.

If however it really IS stuffed, here is the part number for ewe (Baaaa!)

Avin
Tell the drongo tester that if you can sit in the LUSH leather seats.and not be shaken out of them, then thay are fine.
as Don said above minor cracking is a common thing to happen to any rubber coupling.
Have a look at ya front bushes mate thay will have small cracks (but thay aren't stuffed are thay ?)
if all else fails drive to Geelong mate and see Phil at Geelong tune up and tell him ya need a RWC.

well i bought a second hand one from my favourite wrecker ToyRolla in Epping, it was $90 which i thought was a bit steep but given the new price.
it has no cracks.

Got under the car to swap it but couldnt get the bolts to even budge! not enough room to move with the resonators running either side, and when i realy lent onthe bolts, the rubber would move!
F&*%...
need a bloody hoist so i can get a long enough bar onto them.

Considering the mechanic only picked up the coupling and worn front tyres, i am pretty happy to stick with him.

Just digging up an old thread.

I am getting a rwc and have been told that the coupling is cracked.

Can anyone confirm if the TT and V8 couplings are the same?

TT coupling is stronger . the V8 one looks smaller and doesnt have as much rubber thats for sure . Try and get a TT one if you can .

smear silastic over the cracked one, let it dry and trim the edges and voila, looks just like the non genuine ebay ones. Of course if they are in need of replacing then just replace them.
