I have just bought a soarer at auction that has no keys. Any suggestions on how to go about sourcing a new key. Also on how to open the boot? - the release on the dash is locked and finally it has an immobiliser any suggestions on how to remove. I would like to start it and establish whether it runs or not. Comments appreciated.

Steve. I'm I can't help you but I'm sure someone will be around shortly that can.

You may try to find out what brand of immobiliser it is though since they can differ a bit.

EDIT: And go by what Robert said.
EDIT again: I'm waay too slow.

Then call an autoelectrician and remove the immobiliser. Most immobilisers are stupid and just stuff up the car's electronics sooner or later, unless you have a cool pro one.

You could possibly get secondhand locks from a recent wreck. Locks don't break in a smash.

I was also wondering Don. Hopefully you have checked the cars credentials.
It could off cause be an import where the keys have gone missing.

cheap way... buy new locks all round :-) including the barrel.

There are plenty or soarers out there with all the locks on them, and some have keys :-)

Also, the immobiliser should have a button somewhere incase you forget the remote or whatever... just pull the bottom of the dash apart, or start tracing wires from the ignition.

The car is damaged and sold by Pickles auctioneers on behalf of the insurer. At least half the cars sold the same day had no keys. I am evaluating whether to repair or wreck it - but it is too good to wreck.
I have spent the day removing damaged parts to get a better idea of the extent of damage.
I removed the lock and fuel/boot release and will take that to a master locksmith tomorrow in line with Neils suggestion. After removing the lock I was then able to jump the boot release and access the boot - unfortunately the wheel lock key/spanner was not there so now I am off to a tyre/wheel dealer to ask for help.

thanks for all the suggestions

Steve
