Hello everyone. I'm about to purchase another EMV to replace the original failing unit in my 1992 GT-L. The replacement is from a 1994 GT-L. I'm unaware of any EMV differences between those years so it should hopefully be a hassle free changeover. But does anyone here know differently?

Hi Geoff
I use toyodiy.com to check the part numbers. In this case it shows 1 number for 92-93 and a different number for 94-96 years. However I have no idea if they can be substituted. Mike Beck in NZ (aka Soarer Surgeon) will probably have the answer. Try him via his website or facebook. good luck Steve

Mike Beck has kindly confirmed there are no electronic differences between the two years. To quote Mike, "Just some software difference, I believe the only noticeable difference is the 3 minute close up zoom for the fuel table was removed, so you just have the 60 minute full table."
A very big thank you to Mike for this information, and to Steve for referring me to Mike. Great stuff.

No problem at all! You'll be right.
I think the main difference is also the GPS map software, 1994 they changed the zoom function buttons on screen, but not that it matters GPS is useless outside of Japan.
I just know as I got my system working (incorrectly) but was able to play around with it and found the differences between 1991 and 1994 units in the process.
