thought id give the soarer a clean this morning, so removed the seats and went and got some carpet shampoo, it left a few spots but all in all it came out alot better than before, which is always handy.
Its a JZZ30.
Now ive been thinking, what colour carpet do you think would go with my interior? Im a bit tired of the standard colour, its kinda a mix between green and cream. Not easy to keep clean, and isnt the best looking thing HAHA. Ignore the swirly marks, its whats left of my vaccum cleaning haha. The carpet is remarkably soft now though
Anyway thats my attempt at cleaning the carpets, turned out allright i thought

hey mate, all that is needed is if you have the electrical seats is unclip the wire under the seats.
There are 3 bolts holding it on to the chassis on the rear, and 2 in the front, 1 on each of the front chassis rails, and 1 on the outer rear and 2 on the inner rear. Once you have those bolts removed you just lift the chairs out. 14mm bolts

There are little slots in the plastic covers that sit over the bolts. Use a small flat blade to gently pull these out of the way and the covers come off to expose the bolts.

I got mine done professionally and wasnt much difference as the car was newly retrimmed in everything. But the seat same up sweat, huge difference and saw the dirty water after. Any one use Mr. Orange or something? I heard its a good cleaner for the seats. anyone know where youcan buy it from as i wanna clean my seat in prep for dying them.

hehe if i couldnt get a manual i wasnt getting 1 LOL, for some reason i cant stand autos, so that was out of the question.
Was lucky as the first car i looked at, was a 1 time owner (after import) he imported it personally for his wife. Only 66,000 on it and in superb condition, and the fully optioned pack. So i jumped on it, and dam am i happy i did. Only problems with it were the rear speakers diaphrams ahd collapsed and now the clutch is starting to slip, but thats ok, il replace it at work

I like your thinking. Looks like it paid off as you have a decent Soarer that is very well optioned for a TT!
Goal with mine is a to get it converted to manual at some stage, the auto does not do any justice to how I want it to go... 4 Soarers and a Celsior with Automatics... you do get sick of it

4 soarers hey? Someone has an addiction HAHA.
Yeah i love it, got it for 12K, which i thought for the ammount of luxuries it has in it, was a brilliant price, that includes factory, 12 stacker, sunroom, electric seats, ABS, manual, Leather, Woodgrain, LSD, Greddy boost guage, bomex kit.
What seems to be the going price for manual GTTL soarers?
I will either purchase the premade carpets later down the track, or dye my existing carpet as its in good condition. Thinking maybe a charcoal will go with the grey leather seats and woodgrain

Haha, addiction alright, only problem with back then was I didn't have enough funds to do what a I really wanted to do to them so I sold them for a new direction! Stupid... as I just ended up going back to buying another one... But it was fun at the same time. After all that I'm going to hold onto my UZZ31 however, can't be stuffed selling, it's pointless.
That is a good price, when did you acquire it?
...and wow that's an amazing list of options! Definitely hit the jack pot.
Heh a good old dash mat, for some reason I like those.

dash mate came with it, vinyl has gone a greeny colour, so dash mat stays until i get it dyed LOL, plus it protects the vinyl from cracking
I bought it about 2 months ago. The fella used to import vehicles for a living until all the new rules came in.
He had a MR2 turbo for sale with 100,000 on the clock in beautiful condition that i was interested in. I weighed out the cons and pros and decided against it as it just wasnt practical for me. Then i noticed his soarer was for sale, his wife never liked it. He had imported it 7 years ago, and it sat in his garage on blocks for 3 of those.
He had just recently dropped the price from 15 to 12,000, which was suited directly to me, as i had 12K in my account, so i could buy it outright and not worry about a loan. So went over the pros and cons, and went up to him with 12K in cash and bought it.
Its my 2nd car, coming from a GSR mitsubishi Sigma which i rebuilt the engine. Its a VAAST improvement

David, I used fast orange hand cleaner (I think) on my door trims and other ivory bits with some steel wool, the fine stuff with little pink soap stuff on it and it came up really well. just got to follow your work with a damp sponge to wipe of the residue.
When that ran out I used some solvol hand cleaner, which worked well too, I would recommend using the stuff with grit in it because I think it gets into the little creases and cleans the dirt out here is a link to my pics of the difference half cleaned, you can really notice it.
You probably know already, but after this a good going over with some wax and grease remover before you dye would be a good idea i reckon.

thanks for the ideas cameron, my vinyl door trims etc, you can see the dirt in the little crevices in the vinyl, but ive had stuff all luck of getting the stains out, ive tried 4 different trim cleaners, tried brake cleaner, citrus clean, but nothing can get the stains out, really peeving me off as its the only thing bugging me in the car. Especially on the hard backing of the seats.
So you say steel wool and hand cleaner should work? Il have to give it a go next weekend

just having a look now, didnt see the link before
Il try and take some pics, might be a while till i take some, soarer is of the road for the time being, giving it a rest and driving the sigma around, on account of soarer needing clutch.
WOW that turned out awesome, definately getting some of that stuff.

I can relate to green vinyl, our centre console lid was partly a sick green colour on arrival from Japan. I thought it might have been from the driver leaning a sweaty forearm on it. Our interior is the Ivory, too!
For cleaning the interior I found Gumption paste to be ideal. Leaves a white residue but can be cleaned off with damp rag. Ideal for getting into the vinyl grain. My wife uses Gumption for cleaning pots and pans so we always have it around.

What type of Carpet shampoo do people recommend? Mine really needs doing and was thinking of attacking it next week when there is some hot weather, so it will dry out

mate i used some preen. Its concentrated stuff, you mix it 1:9 with water, and froth it up, and rub the foam into the carpet, let it dry then vaccum. Im sure theres something better. I cant complain, it bought the carpets out nice, but it didnt get the really tough stains out.
