Where has everyone got their amp in their Soarer? I had mine under the seat, but I don't like it there as the seat sort of pushes down on it and scrapes when the seat is moved, plus the wires and cables are all sitting bent and yeah...I just don't like it.
I was looking in the boot and I can't see a good place to sit it in there as it's pretty small and there is no good solid spot to mount it in.

I got some advise from FHRX on the weekend, there is mamoth amounts of space in ontop of the fuel tank.
Remove the wall panel, make a set of custom brackets to mount a decent sized wooden board under the parcel tray, and just above the fuel tank (I personally dont like thinks coming into contact with my fuel tank), and then mount the amps on there.
Once Mounted, route the cabling towards the front of the car, and it's mostly hidden away and generally a clean invisible install.
By also doing this, your not cutting or hacking anything, and your not screwding into anything with new holes, it makes the install much cleaner.

I have one under the right hand side carpeting in the trunk as Vinh said, and then the one for my woofer zip tied to the back wall. It was all installed like this by the previous owner, but looks pretty cool. Awesome name by the way.

Mine are currently on the floor of the boot, with the boot liner cut to show the 2 amps flush with the floor.
Once I get a new boot floor tray, I will be mounting the amps in above the fuel tank, that way I regain the 2.5"s of depth to the boot, and when opened up, the car looks completely stock, and knowbody would know there is almost 5 grand in amps, speakers, head unit, and cabling, yet the sound will be sensational.
When I do the Amp relocation, I will do a How-to for the mounting above the fuel tank, and get some pics to show the results

I folded the right hand 'ear' of the boot carpet under, and bolted it in...
There is a metal beam running front back under the left hand mounting holes of my amp as shown, which I used to affix the amp and find a solid earthing point. It was so firm I didn't bother bolting it in on the right,

I didn't want to take up any more room in the boot so I took out the spare tire under the boot liner (just a space saver anyway) and mounted both my amps in there. I was a bit worried about them overheating but no problems so far. Easy enough to mount a small PC cooling fan in the bay anyhow. Just hope I dont get a flat too far from home!

removing a spare tire IS a bad idea i'd say... i took out my sub and mounted a cusom panel in the parcel shelf and mounted my amp between the speakers, lucky for me its only a small amp and its actually used the same bolts that were used by the sub box.

Some things to consider is not to mount the amp under anything, not to mount an amp upsidedown, and not to mount it where it will get hit by things.
Mounting an amp in an enclosed area will see it get hot and possibly overheat, or the heat will damage something else.
Mountin an amp upsidedown goes against it's design, heat rises, the heat sinks are on the top, so upsidedown will heat-soak the sinks, and then the heat will rise back into the heat source.
And stuff hitting the amps is obvious.

Whatever you do, DON'T install it on the backside of your boot!! My installers did and drilled holes through the petrol tank!! They ended up paying for the replacement, but I had to drive for a couple of weeks trying to figure why I was getting so "high"! LOL

Sure amps arnt designed to run upside down, but if you arnt running them hard, they will be fine.
Ive ran some amps up sidedown many times, also covered with carpet too (it was sitting on the amp. I didnt run them hard and they survived 2 years without fault. There now going into another car, in a small box, almost sealed too....

yeah as long as wherever you put it the fan can breathe to cool down depending on how big your amp is below the standard sub on the inside of the boot is a good spot
