Well! We have completed most of my Soarer's interior make-over! We started with new carpet and went on to pull my entire interior out and dye/paint most things. We haven't dyed the seats though as I am getting covers for them soon (it looks hideous with the grey, I know)and I still have to sort out the handbrake and steering wheel, but we've painted the steering wheel for now.
I used VHT Vinyl Dye in Satin Black for the bottom half of the interior (e.g. doors) and everything at the top (e.g. dash and window surround trims) were painted in Gloss Black. I got the stereo/climate control surround, elec window controls and the gear shifter surround piece painted at our workshop in 2 pak (in a satin sort of finish) as they are parts that needed a hard wearing paint.

I also sanded the woodgrain panels back and got them recoated in clear which is why they look so good (they looked rubbish before!)

What grade sand paper did you use Kelly? It's amazing what dye can do!

Yes I am going to do the seats, it will look great with them done! On the woodgrain I used 800 first and then went to 1200 to finish. It took a while because I had some stubborn bits of clear that wouldn't come off which is why I used the 800 first. I did start off just using the 1200 but it took a while so yeah...I started with something a bit coarser, but be careful not to sand all the way through. I did on one corner, it's not that noticeable, but I know that it's there...

Jose, I wrote the sandpaper bit earlier...a few posts ago...I used VHT vinyl dye in Satin black for the doors and glove box and gloss black for the top of the doors and the dash...I wanted to keep the 2 sections like it had before, but I wanted to change from ugly colours to nice. I'm very happy with it, will be sorting out window tinting this week as the car gets really hot now...!

Kelly,

Do you have a close up photo of the window switches? Was thinking of doing the same, but was a bitty iffy as they have white text, and lights.

Yeah I will post the pics later, I just painted over them, but for the driver's side I am going to get a sign writer to make up some small decals for them, also for my hazards, boot, bonnet and fuel door release because they were painted over aswell.
