hi everyone

i've just completed a R154 swap and in the process of putting the interior back together, my car has TRC and i'm at a bit of a loss as to where to put the TRC button.

i'm ordering a shifter surround from toyota, is there anywhere on the manual surround you can mount the button, was hoping to keep it looking pretty stock.

thanks

shane

I initially placed mine behind the lower part of the centre console so it was next to my left knee (between the trim and the carpet) I have since modified the ashtray and sat it in there but that will have to change now also.

considered cutting a big hole in the auto shifter trim and then just getting a nice leather boot?

actually alan i did and still might give it a go, i dont think i'd ever get it as good as the factory manual one though. doesn't hurt to try though. suppose those things sell pretty cheap 2nd hand

only problem i can see is that the hole will be more rectangular then square and probable cant buy a generic super cheap boot to fit.

cut the hole then get an auto trimmer to make you a nice leather boot with two metal rings (coat hanger wire) the same shape but slightly larger then the hole stitched inside so one sits each side of the trim and hides the cut edge (do sand it smooth)

Have you thought about putting it in the factory manual location.

No worries mate. If I had access to my soarer I would have taken a photo of the factory button. The factory one is a button and not a switch on the manuals.

Yep, cut a hole and created a metal bracket for the button. Bracket is held onto the console with glue so it gets a bit soft if left out in the heat. It's never moved in the 2+ years I've had it there though.
