Hi guys!...another option is to piano black all the hard plastic areas like power windows and all through the main dash. Requires you to pull all the parts out of the dash and send them to me( a spraypainter ) I have done heaps of car parts like this..the result is a shinny pure black finish. For end results look for photos on the Landrover Discovery 3 down below. Its expensive to do but ill do my best dollars for you! www.dash-design.com

HI Matthew,
Welcome to the club mate and cheers for the information.
The piano black looks very nice indeed.
Sebastian, from my searching through threads i have not read about anyone using a clear coat and im assuming it probably is not really worth it. Perhaps this is your chance to be the 1st guy to discover a new and better way of transforming your interior !!

I am going to order some replacement parts and try give it a go but it seems as though Matthew has achieved just the look I'm after and so has Vinh for that matter so I guess it might be a job for the pros but I'll still give it a go.

Received the cans of vht vinyl dye today so it looks like we have a reliable source now. www.carbling.com.au I'm not going to use it on the plastic bits as I want to apply a clear coat. I'm using k+h using a primer, gloss black and then a clear coat. I want to do from the window surround up including the dash in black and decide on the rest later but I started pulling the A pillar off and couldn't get it off as it was starting to tear. I don't think there are any screws so do I just have to pop it off with a flat blade? I am thinking of going to a stereo installer and getting them to pull everything out and spray in one hit. Sorry for the long post.

Thats good news about the paint.
Keep us posted about how you go mate, perhaps star a new thread with some pics and stuff once you start getting into it.
Yeh you just have to take your time pulling all those bits off, if you cant see any screws then yes its usually just clips that need to be gently pryed off, a flat blade screwdriver should do it .
Im interested to see how you go with the primer on the dash.. cos i thought the VHT was supposed to be absorbed into the vinyl and using a primer may hinder that? Then again i may be wrong?
Yeah I'd say a primer wouldn't work well with the on vinyl but I'm only using primer then paint on the plastic parts. I'll keep you posted but it will be a slow process as I have little time.
