Hello people of the Internet i was looking around on the Internet for an R8 style gated shifter for my soarer so i was wondering if anyone on here heard of it or seen it for sale somewhere. From what i can see it just looks like a thin shifter shaft and the metal plate replacing the shift boot. It might be a lot more then that but i don't know so if you know of any where i can get this for my car or a fabricator that might be able to help me out input would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Heres a few pictures of cars that have them

making it would be fairly easy, most machine shops could do it, or even those sweet laser cutting places.

the hardest part would be the measuring and mounting.

if you rip the shifter boot off, and your gear knob and start with a bit of paper or cardboard and locate your shifting positions (ie where the stick is in 1st 2nd 3rd etc) and then cut out the tracks, just to give you a rough template.

then you can do some measuring off a couple of datum points, ie find out the positions in 2nd 4th and rev. take an average if they're different and the same for the top

here's my dodgy paint version,

you'll need to plot/measure on your cardboard the blue dots(even if you cut a hole roughly where the stick comes out) you can then cut the middle track out at a (1) standard width and keep modifying it until it fits.

a machine shop might want something a bit more accurate then a busted cardboard template so you can then measure number the edges of 2 and 3 from the same point (say the bottom edge) and then meet everything up in nice straight lines.

i'm terribly sorry to my poor directions for how to draw this up but it makes sense in my head and is kinda hard to explain over the internet with out spending quite a while writing it out or drawing it my self. its pretty much just reference all the extremities and then join them up.

get it made up and just glue it in the spot where the shifter boot would normally sit.
