I noticed a chart recently that pointed out the Soarer paint codes versus colours. Is there one for the trim codes/colours?
Asking as some of the spruce look very similar to grey, and is buying trim parts, its easy to get the wrong ones.

This is about as close as anyone's gotten i think, interior codes are close to the bottom of the first link.

also found a site that had oem leather colours for re-dyeing lexus leather, so that may help as well although it doesn't tell you the trim code

Yeah, trouble is the SC400 doesnt have some of the trim colours the Soarers have.
Both my Soarers have different trim codes, but both look like spruce. I have a grey door trim, and its certainly different to both my cars.
Maybe the later model Soarers used a different code for the same colour??

Hi Ian,
I have checked the brochure and found information about body colour and trim colours.
If you are sure that your soarer is manufactured in 1995, there is no soarers with gray trims. Trim colours manufactured in 1995 are ivory, spruce and black. No gray trims.
Gray trim colours existed in 1991~1993 soarers with body colours black(colour code 202),red mica (3K3) and dark blue mica phthalocyanine(8J5).
Those tree body colour soarers had gray trims.
But there is no information about trim colour codes. It's written only gray.

Thanks for that Katsuji. Both mine are spruce I am convinced, but carry different trim codes to each other. My UZZ31 is definately a 1995. The grey(gray) one was one I got for a fill in at one stage.

Hi Ian,
Sorry for my misspelling.
I own a '92 2.5GT-TL and got leather seats from Yahoo auction several years ago.
As you may know, 2.5GT-TL (JZZ30) are not equipped with leather seats. My interior colour is spruce.
I was careful enough to get a spruce colour leather seats but it was next to impossible to judge if it was spruce or grey from the small picture of the auction site.
In those early models, dark bluish green (colour code 6M2) body colour was very popular and they all had spruce trims.
When I received the driver's side leather seat, I found it was grey and not spruce.
I was a little depressed at the time but my friend encouraged me saying it looks a lot alike.
The leather seat was in a mint condition and now I'm satisfied with it.

I think the only way we'll truly blow the head off this mystery (and not send Ian insane) is to get people to take pictures of their stock interiors (in high quality) and post them here along with the trim code from the engine bay and year model.

Least then we'll have a record of what the trims are and no one will ever be confused again :-)

Leather seats were a standard equipment for UZZ31 limited and UZZ32 only. You could not choose leather seats as an optional items for other models.
After V8 soarers were discontinued on Aug. 1997, leather seats were an option item for JZZ31 G package only. No other models could choose the leather seats.
Of course you can see many 2.5GT-T soarers (JZZ30) with leather seats exported from Japan but their leather seats were all transplanted seats from broken 31 limited.
You could find some good conditioned leather seats on the auction site in 2000~2005 but usually the drivers seat had some cracks and worn. That is why I took a long time to get a good one but unfortunately different colour.

Of course you can order a brand new leather seats if you can afford to pay ¥240,000, but I have never heard of it. Of course you have to modify the plug to connect it in case of driver's side.

I was thinking of getting a passenger seat out of the US for our drivers side, but trim colours over there seem to be different. No Spruce I think, mainly tan, and black.

If your desperate for a spruce seat just get any leather soarer seat and re-dye it, i had great success with this guy and coloured dye if you want to go that way

Ian,

I'm in the same situation and at one point even thought that one of the cars had had the trim replaced as the codes did not seem to match...

What years are the two "spruce" Soarers you refer to? And is the Steering wheel Colour by any chance different between them?

My ones are LA60 ('91) and LC61 ('94).

Regards,
Michael

My 91 Green Soarer was FC60, and my 95 Silver Soarer is LC61. Sold my 91 now, but steering wheel feels thicker on the 95. I think they were similar colours.

I think I have sorted the difference between my 2 cars. One was cloth, and the 31 is leather, so thats probably why the different trim numbers even though they were both spruce.

I believe that the first letter in the trim code is F for Fabric or L for Leather. Beyond that, the codes don't seem consistent to me.

Two of my soarers are FA10 and FB10. They are both grey fabric seats. The FA10 (92 model- 3K3 paint) has velour cloth seats. The FB10 (93 model 202 paint) has grey ribbed cloth seats- very distinct ribs running down the seat area.

I have never got the hang of this 'spruce' colour. Only ever heard it called that on the forums. My seats are grey. The trim is mostly grey, except the soft padded top of dash and glove box area that is sort of greeny grey. Looks like it faded rather than was designed that colour. I hate the greeny grey bit. I wish it was the same colour as the rest of the car interior.

It gets very confusing Ben. My 30 was spruce, with the ribs as you say, but I have a spare set of spruce seats that have ribs, but are wider apart than my car seats. And a different electrical plug.
When you have the spruce, and grey together, you can see the difference.
