I recommended the Vlads radio conversion too and i've got mine done about a month ago and very happy with the result :-)

Now i no longer needed the fm expander + the EMV can shows the correct radio stations names and frequencies..

The good thing is now i can have the audio tone control when i playing music through the DVD player :-)

Anyway i've heard there is no real cure for the dead pixels on the EMV, as mine EMV have lots of those white dots on it :-(

Saw this GPS for sale, not sure if it's compatable with the EMV. I was going to get a GPS card with my new O2 PDA.

Anyway, here's the link.

Not sure about those but Dick Smith have them so I may go look at one.

Tom you have mail.

Daniel, see if you can get a pic showing the dead pixels and I'll see if I can find a better screen.

I use this set up when ever I need to use the sat nav system...bloody great set up... folds away into the glove box.. cost $800.00 and has a bunch of other features...sure beats the shit out of spending $3000.00 on a intergrated system

No Juzza...the one I had in Wagga was a loan unit, a huge Nav Man which stuck on the windscreen and almost killed you if it fell off as it did on the oh so smooth road back from Wagga...Yeah Right!!

I've seen a lot worse. There is a bit of evidence of the screen going cloudy in the top left corner and a few dead pixels. Not too bad at all. Get the capacitors changed before the cloudy area gets bigger.

Mark,

To get the capacitors changed, do i need to sent the whole EMV unit like the screen up to you?

Also how much its cost to change the capacitors?

Haha, Jason I'd tell you to get the caps changed....but that screen's not worth saving.
I have got a better one or two, Ive even got worse ones.

Daniel, about $100, just the screen and computer units (computer has a cap that needs changed).

Does anyone know the price - 2nd hand or new for an EMV without any dead pixels? Is the dying pixel problem fixed up in later models? mine are a bit like daniels but thank god not as bad as jasons.

Also with the sat nav, does anyone know of a unit i can plug into the EMV and at least pretend that its integrated?

Answer to last question is "many". I have the Blaupunkt and other kits will do the same. There was a spare switch spot next to the Air Purifier switch under the dash to the left of the steering column so we put the infra-red sensor there where it is pretty discreet. The unit itself is attached to the underside of the passenger seat with the CD inserted from the rear (careful people!) and the GPS antenna is under the carpet on the rear shelf and unnoticeable. It works well.

Sorry guys i know its kina a late reply to the post but hey lol...saves putting up a new post

My question is basically the beginning of the thread, but im more interested in the process of getting the in-built GPS system converted from Japanese to Australian without having to attach stuff underneath my seats and what not

In simple terms...isnt there any way you could convert it into Aus. standards by changin the chip in the in-built system or re-programming it or something????
