My door trims were removed to fix the usual crack in the sill and while it was off I checked all screws and nuts. Some were a little loose so I thought I would remove the passenger side just to do up anything loose in there. Sure enough, the nuts holding the door handle and lock were only finger tight. So it was really worthwhile as I might have stopped some squeaks and rattles.

i will second this, i had an annoying rattle in my drivers side door for a whole year. almost drove me to sell the damned thing as i have this thing about noises that i cant stop driving me crazy.
anyone who was at the west coaster might remember i had an RBT straw stuffed in against my drivers side window between the trim and the glass to stop this noise.
i took the door trim off at least 5 times before i found the problem. it was the screw that holds the side window glass rail in place. it was loose and letting the rail rattle around.
