But what about JustCars excess being a zillion times more than anyone elses? Under 25 excess, import excess, turbo excess, yadi yadi yada if I had insurance with them and pranged it, my excess was nearly $2300!!!

Spose it works out well that I have been insured with Shannons since I was 22 :-) And there was no wheeling and dealing to get in with them at that age, just walked in and said you insure soarers? Then signed the forms.

It must have been the combination of my mods then. The exhaust they could probably put up with. HBF didn't like the steel wheeled turbos and I think the EBC tipped them over the edge too.

Why would you need to tell your insurance about the steel wheeled turbos? Its not like they are going to remove and open up your turbos if you make a claim, as long as there still the original housings they will be none the wiser. Unless of course you were claiming the value of them to increase the cars agreed value.

Also isn't any form of boost alteration e.g. EBC illegal in all states anyway?

Kyle, the reason why I mentioned steel wheels, was had my car been stolen and torched or something, I'd like a replacement Soarer with steel wheels, and not ceramics. I suppose it did increase the value as a result.

Yeah, Shannons had no issue with EBC so not sure about the legality hey...

And yet if you apply for insurance through AAMI they reject you, yet they underwrite Just car and Shannons..... Interesting hey

I'm fairly positive that all the big insurance companies are either in bed with each or owned overall by one mob anyway!

Because insurance is based on risk many companies share their underwritten risk so as to diversify their vulnerability to high and low risk products. You may find that your insurance policy is underwritten by the same people as your mates even though you are insured through different companies/agents.

Yeah good point about the turbos, with insurance companies you can list whatever you want even its illegal. E.g. you say have an atmo venting BOV, EBC, 22" wheels etc and they will say ok no worries its listed on the policy. But then when you go to put in a claim they will say didnt you read the policy we only cover you if your mods are legal....

They are in bed with each other.
They all have deals to say things like "if one of your cars hits one of ours then we pay the bills for our own cars" or some

Pretty sure they's just pay you out, and it would be up to you to find a suitable replacement.

Yeah sometimes it is just a round-robin affair.
I found out that Vigil is part of Unique insurance. And the buggers won't insure daily driven cars any more :-(

Oh yeah I know, but I used that as the reason to increase my agreed value by an extra 3 grand...

My silly policy pays me out for the purchase price of my car, plus the cost of additional mods that i have covered.

So lets say there is $10,000 worth of parts/labor in mods on my car (possible) and the purchase price was $17,000.... i could buy a 2004 MR2 if my car was stolen.
