Hi Guys,

I've been lurking for a while at SC and I have got an inspection report from S&L for a 91 Soarer uzz32 Active I would like to buy.

As I am not all too familiar with what goes wrong with them I would greatly appreciate opinions on the condition of the vehicle.

Here is the list as it appears on the inspection report:

abs Codes 54 56 displayed will need level switch and nitrogen accumulator ?master cylinder

Reverse camera not working

Rear bumper damage paint faded and deteriorated on boot and roof

Drivers squab trim damaged, center console lid broken

Wrong battery too small

Rear tyres low

Timing belt needs replacement soon

Washer motor seal

Heat sheilds noisy

All hydraulic struts leaking, need recharging no nitrogen in system causing bounce

Oil leaks at suspension pump

Timing case seal

Left hand rack end

Dip stick oring

Auto pan gaskit

Engine and transmission mounts poor condition

Left front low beam not working

Airconditioning compressor noisy no gas in system.

NOTE there is a lot of high cost repairs to be done to this car.

Well that's the report.

I would appreciate any advice on what is serious and what is not, and what would be fair wear and tear for a car of this age.

The owner has offered to fix the major problems and take it out of the asking price.

Thanks heaps everyone!

Hi Guys it's not a joke!

I'm new to the Soarer scene and would value your comments as I am unfamiliar with Soarer problems.

The inspection was conducted by Sports and Luxury.

Reverse camera not working, usually the controller is the problem.

You can take the controller out and ask Damian Ware to repair it for you.

http://www.planetsoarer.com/mark/index.htm

All the other problems can be fix but it will be expensive!!

Also for the Airconditioning compressor, make sure the owner get a new one and not a second hand.

If you need more information on the UZZ32, check out planet soarer.

Wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Obviously it hasn't been maintained at all. The seller might re-think taking the cost of repairs from the asking price when he realises how much it will actually cost him. How many K's on it??

The aircon system will also need to be pumped dry and cleaned before the new stuff goes in.
The old compressor will have probably seized to a point where there will be a whole lot of iron filings through the system. If you dont clean it out it will just cause the same problems to occur again.

As has been said, give it a miss. The car has a lot of expensive things; engine mounts are another example as the engine will need to be lifted to replace them.

That other uzz32 for $12k sounds like a beaut deal! ;D

depending on the price of this vehicle your looking at a repair bill close to $6,000 specially if all those hydraulics are leaking and need a rebuild.

Ouch... I'd buy if for $5K, no more than that, given so many things are wrong with it. Who knows what other surprises pop out shortly after you buy it. If suspension is damaged, expect to pay heaps fixing that.

Simon, I bit the bullet and bought my second car without getting a check done. It was a big mistake and now im paying the price for quite a few repairs.

Back to your car, i wouldnt buy it.

No way, Sounds almost too far gone to be financially viable to buy and fix up. Unless you are prepared to spend all the money should be okay, however If the majority of usually fine parts are faulty then just think what other things are ready to go once you have bought it.

How many kms has it done by the way?

If your want a good 32, Richard Cislowski 1993 one for sale looks like a good example. For 12k, seems very good...

Sounds like it might be in poor condition.

6k for suspension rebuild, not clear what is wrong with the suspension pump but about 3.5k for a rebuild.

New brake accumulator $600, rebuild brake unit $1000??? maybe I here it is very expensive.

Aircon could be simple or could cost 1k.

Engine and transmission mounts, probably $350.

Steering rack ??

Reversing camera is the least of your worries.

You could be looking at 13k on repairs before service items and other things that pop up.

The pump isn't that bad, but the labour required to remove it then reinstall it I believe is the killer.

I'm not 100% on that price but I know it will not be cheap.
