My mate has a road registered 1991 Holden Barina electric car.. HE bouilt it from the ground up.
1991 Barina( blown motor) - $1000 Respray -$1000 Electric motor + all batteries and custom bellhousing to suit, No clutch, factory 5 speed manual, Air vacuum pump and resovoir for brakes....
Total on road cost including rego... $7000.
This thing smokes 3rd gear @ 50km/h with 100% throttle switch engaged! Torque from 0rpm is amazing!
Limited range due to limiting size of battery placements. 100-150km on full charge!

i can remember seeing a 180sx in hpi i think it was doing 10 second quarters using electic motor. he said the hardest thing was getting a diff made to cope with the instant torque. i think they bolted up a ford 9" to it. i guess the main thought though is how long do these setups last before you have to start replacing batteries. and the guidelines that may be coming in with the fact the car has to put out a noise so pedestrians to hear it lol but there are alot more of these starting up so i gess alot of the probles should start to get sorted with the fuel prices going through the roof these days.

Haha, I cant wait till they start selling converting to electric systems, which I hope will happen once petrol gets unusuable to the common people (My guess $3.5-$4 / L)

Aaron, It was in the USA and it was a 180sx with Twin electric motors.. Was running low 11's @ 106mph... ELectric motored vehicles have alot of torque, so they run fast times with less mph than we are normally seeing with petrol motors.
