Thats a nice looking car Mike. I like the white, but am quite happy with my silver 31. Had a white 31, sold to a friend who loves it. He wouldnt part with it for quids. And he is about 67, so age is not barrier to a Soarer. You have certainly spent big on it though Mike

Bought for 10.5k back in 06 . Spent less than 3.5k in mods , had heaps of fun . I got my 130,000km of street driving , over 350 1/4 mile passes ( lots in the 11's ;) ) and enjoyed many a cruise ... Walking away with nothing and I'm still in front with a cost of $2,000 a year purchase costs ( car & mods ) , what more could you ask for really !!!

Bringing this one back to life(well, I can, cos i started it) Still havent decided what to do. Can get a very tidy 1997 UZZ31 at the moment, but it doesnt have the options that my 1995 31 has. Do I need the sunroof, and reverse camera that mine has over the other car? No, but yes. Do I upgrade the front bar to 97, or just get mine painted? I have some scratches, and a minor dent that will cost around $1,000 to fix and paint. Want to replace the suspension bushes, as I dont like the Nolathane type that are in it. Thats another $1-1,500 including labour. Both cars same colour, so nothing in that. What would I get for mine? Or do I just do bits as I get around to it. I am probably not so much asking, just venting. But chime in if you feel like it

i would suggest that "minor" work on the 97 would be the same $$$ as "minor" work on the 95 to get them both to where you want them?? So why change for less features?? just my thoughts.

Tom, I understand your comments. I havent seen the 97, only photos, but it looks immaculate, so shouldnt need anything done to it yet. Mine does need some amount of tidying up to get to an acceptable level(outside only), but I like the 97 shape, even if its not a huge difference. And you are correct, while my cars features are not always used, they are at least there. A later front maybe all that I should worry about, or not even that. * I have a funny feeling the 97 maybe sold* If so, fixes my dellema.

Good thread topic. I'll be spending 10-12k on the Soarer and that should do it for a comfortable daily driver. A sports car is a different ballgame. Considering there is no depreciation, just all maintenance/mod money, 10-12k is cheap. I'll never own another falcodore, or a VW/Audi for that matter. I've had enough to do with them to realise they are a cheap cheap product, but they do look better or newer to some. There really is not much on the market this side of $20-$25K that appeals to me for a daily driver, although at that point I'd consider a Merc E500, S500, or possibly an earlier E55.

You are correct Joe. I have 4 vehicles, but my Soarer, and the ones previous still give me the "buzz" I need from a car. Not into Mercs, worked for a bloke who had about 20 of them, and drove quite a few of them, but never got the bug. Looks like slow tidy up program beginning very soon.

Yep I agree a V8 Merc (at 20-25k) doesn't have quite the same buzz as a nicely done Soarer. I havn't driven a supercharged newer E55 or a V12 merc (much more $ and they have their issues) but I think at that level the Soarer might finally be comfortably beat, for me at least.

Ian I think small things got fixed in the 97. The dash air vents don't crack, nor the door panels - at least on mine. The door pockets are smaller though so makes them harder to put things into. Other things like the radiator bubble tank not leaking, and I suspect the door locks being improved may be factors as well. It would be great to document all the changes.

I would spend as much money on my Soarer until it reaches to the point where I can buy a car that is equally as good looking, fast, reliable and in the same condition.

Peter, does anyone have this info? or is it a wish list? It would be great to have a complete breakdown of improvements v models, not just option differences. And yes Boris, I agree.

Peter very insightful. I always enjoy reading your posts. Pulling both 91 and 97 soarers apart you would be amazed at how many different things they changed on the I side. I've wrote a list somewhere on the forum but random things like: - seat belt inner dog rod changed - word on door interior handle instead of symbol - braces under back seat for improved handling
