I do know basic idea of the TEMS function... but especially for NORM/HIGH function, i don't think it only works on "P" position. on my car it seems it works on even "D" gear position.
especially when the car is on uneven road, i guess it's trying to make the body of the car even.
is it true TEMS sometime works automatically on "D" or other position ?? or do i just feel so ?

Min, im pretty sure it works all the time, in P, D or whatever. Its automatic mate. you will also notice it corrects when people get out of the car when you're parked. The only time it doesnt work adequately is in a sudden corner...but if your concerned about this upgrade to the 97 airbags or coil-overs or get a 32.

Hey Ben, what's the benefit in the 97 airbags over other years? I've got a 92 with original airbags... It's a bit mussy. Am thinking about new bags or springs. Any comment? Cheers, FRED

Fred I really dont know for sure, hopefully a guru can point you in the right direction..but i have heard that there is a difference in suspension firmness with the 97 airbags (and they are a direct swap over)..it would be more the dampers rather than the actual airbags tho. When considering airbags there are two components, the actual bags, and the dampers which are housed within. The airbags provide the suspension while the dampers are the shocks. Old airbag suspensions are almost always shoddy (even if the airbag susp. is working ok). if you have 4k id say upgrade to new original air susp shocks. If your not cashed up go for a good coilover kit - you will get a better (firmer) ride. for a good coilover setup - expect to pay 2k. More than likely you will find that at least your front struts have visable oil leaks. Easy suspension test is to push each corner of the car rythmically a few times to check for bounce (there shouldnt be any when you stop pushing). I stand to be corrected on any of this.

This is the first I've "heard of this" also so it would be good if someone knows for sure that there is a definite change in the part resulting in better dampening characteristics...
Perhaps the part# DVD will show a different part for the 97 bags for a start if anyone has it handy...

id be interested too Gregg as i am looking to change all four struts. I thought i'd heard it from either my mechanic or from this website (or maybe it came to me in a dream).

Min, i think you will find that the 31 adjusts itself too, but not in the same way. If you dont believe me, raise your 31 up on a hoist (with the boot switch on) until the wheels drop; then drop the car and stand back in horror as it bottoms out - then watch it re adjust itself. Or take it to a shonky mechanic and let him tell you how he thought that your suspension was buggered, but then when he looked again it seemed ok. Lots of fun to be had.
