So I finally decided to go with the BC type BR coilovers for my car after the airbags died. I got a set for a jza80 supra with slightly heavier spring rates for a good price.

I've been quoted $800 by fulcrum for install, 4 wheel alignment and corner balancing. I though this was a bit steep, and am thinking about having a crack at putting them in myself.

I'm having touble finding any tutes, though I'm sure I saw one on here. How difficult is it? i have stands to hold the car up. is it worth trying myself for someone who has never done it before?

i helped a mate fit Bc's to a air bag celsior.

all straight forward no problems. I used a ball joint puller on the fronts to get the old air bags out. but it was straight forward. Not sure on the soarer fronts. I have replaced a rear airbag on a soarer. very straight forward We found a tut for the celsior, but is was easier and more straight forward to just "do it ."

Make sure you adjust the coilovers correctly for the height and you do not change the spring length

Have changed the front airbags together with a mate.

Easier if you can find an extra pair of hands.

also if you bleed the airbag well, with good timing, you can easily bring the whole airbag out without taking the upper control arm's big long bolt.

The tutorial used to be from this link
http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/30604/324750.html

BUT IT IS GONE ?!?!??!?!

I'll see if my mate still has an electronic copy as he printed out a hard copy.

if you set your coilovers to lower the car a significant amount, make sure that you bounce the car a few times to settle the height before tightening the LCA's.this is to avoid wrecking your bushes

by the way, if you have an extra jack, use that to help with leveraging up and down the control arms...

The bottom bolt holding the strut to the control arm can be slide in or out quite easily if the holes are aligned.

Similarly, unscrewing the balljoint of the link assembly, and then taking it out is much easier if you have the small bolt parallel...

JOhn,
regarding the settling of height, before tightening LCA (I assume this is lower control arm??),

Was the LCA nut/bolt loosen during suspension replacement in the tute?

This is something new I come across now.. so may have to check mine

The lcas are not undone to change out the suspension, I should have said loosen the lcas, bounce the car then tighten them, then get alignment done
