Well over the last few days my Fuel gauge was playing up, reading 'fuel empty' even when there was at least 20l in the tank.
So today got out the Online fuel gauge repair guide and got to work, job was done in about 45minutes or so. Once put all back together works perfectly, nice accurate reading!

OK I've been putting this off for a very long time. Basically since I've had the car. I get very sporadic readings on my fuel gauge, it will go from empty to two thirds or from one third full to the dreaded 'bong' noise with nothing in between. Is this because it needs a clean? Also, is it something that someone who is 'not great' at fiddling with cars able to do? I've read the walkthrough, and Pete's are always well written, but not sure I'm game to try it.

Its very simple - needs only half an hour, depending on how fussy you are with the actual cleaning of the pipe assembly (tip, be VERY fussy if you don't want to end up doing it again in 6 months) - Also be careful when re-assembling the main rod - its important that you locate the pointy bit correctly (you'll understand better once you have it apart)

And whilst you're at it, see if you're fuel nozzle has silicon around it, or in between the nozzel and the piping. This is usually done due to compliancing and wrecks another beautifully designed piece.
If it does have silicon, don't do a temp fix, the tutorial is on the forum somewhere; need to search for it;get the nozzle out, pry away the nozzle from the piping, clean out the silicon nicely and weld the damn thing. If you don't and leave it off, you will soon see petrol leaking down the side of the car, just like I had. It doesn't take that long. I think the complete process, when I did mine; but I did mine all in the one go, took me about an hour an a half at max...treat you're self...you;re driving a soarer not a cressida
