Hi all, I am looking at the possibility of taking the head off my extra 31 that had the supercharger on it, that is now doing well on my blue car.
Everything about the donor car shows that it hasn't done that many kilometers.
I need to find out why #5 cylinder (second last on the passenger side) has no compression.

The motor blew the plastic type housing on the front of the thermostat and overheated but there is no water in the oil and no oil in the water.

The rest of the cylinders come straight up to 180 psi on a compression test
Before I took the supercharger off I tried to get the engine going but it wouldn't start. I checked the resistance of the plug and coil wires and the coils themselves, replacing a collapsed left hand side coil, put good plugs in it. Tried my good ecu in it and another working ecu in it but nothing helped. No firing happening.

Anyway after reading up on the procedure for taking the head off, in the American Soarer workshop manual, I was bit scared to proceed with the project until I get some clarity on the removal of the cam shafts, as there is some danger of warping the head or even cracking if it is done incorrectly.
Has anyone here can done it and is willing to talk me through it?

What I need is some help with removing the cam shafts without the danger of warping the head.

John. Follow the procedure as per instructions, remove camshafts with the head bolted in place. You won't wreck it. Sounds like a hole in head or cylinder.

Ok Tim, Thanks for that. I re read the manual and third time over it seemed more straight forward. I will press ahead when time permits.
If you could send me your phone number so that if I get into trouble I could ring you if that is ok?
Send via a PM if you like or text on 0411555284.

Just interested to see what it turns out to be and if it is worth fixing?
Cheers
