My 90 Soarer has an erratic readout on the speedometer. When I'm doing 60 the speedo bounces from 40 to 60 and all in between. I just use the peak number to tell speed. It also does not read over 90kph. I'm hearing I have a choice of 3 different areas to look at, 2 at transmission and dash.

Only time I've ever had speedo bounce, it was caused by fine metal shavings inside the unit itself. I had it cleaned by a specialist, and all was well. This was on a mechanical unit in a Triumph though, so may not relate at all to your Soarer.

It was a Smiths Speedometer out of a Triumph Dolomite Sprint - totally mechanical system where the cable from the transmission goes straight into the back of the speedo. Aparently metal filings caused by wear stick to something inside them and that causes the bounce.

First option Matt
Not me, my speedo is working fine - this was a problem I had many years ago on a Triumph - it was fixed by a crowd called Dashboard Restorations. From memory it was pretty cheap.
