I have a 97 Soarer with the update front (with the nose grille), and I wanna go ahead and do the BFI mod for it. I've still got the stock SMIC and it'll probably stay that way for a while, so what I was thinking was using the grille opening on the front bumper to draw air in, but I was wondering if that would be enough air for the intake?

Jose, I asked that question ages ago as well..... what i did was open the bottom bit up pull that plastic bit lip down and then just created a box and then put in an apexi intake...... if your planning on getting a FMIC - i wouldnt bother with the BFI - as i got my FMIC a few months after i did the BFI and box, all that went.
Ok cool I'm not sure if I'm going FMIC yet I haven't decided what I wanna do mechanically. Although your set up is interesting Richie, I saw it when you posted up some pics (aren't you scared water's gonna get into that?).
Guys I'd love to meet up but I work over the weekends now (again), unless someone would like to organise a small night cruise or something

Mine is only setup that way cause i really had no choice, you can keep the pod where the stock box currently sits, just need to get some flexible tubing from the front (the opening next to fog lights) to feed air into the top to the pod, this way there will be no water that can get in there (if u know what i mean).
Jose you work too much!!! working ur a$$ off for the new beast???
LOL mate I only work 2 days a week because of Tafe lol, and that's all going towards paying it off w00t Hopefully wheels and suspension work will be done sometime next year though as I'll never afford it this year hehehehhe.

Richard,
On another note regarding your Apexi filter.
Did you have to make up a template to allow it to fit onto the *what i assume is* 3" piping?
I am considering buying one of these filters as they are awesome, BUT im not sure what the neck of it actually looks like, as in does it just have a simple hose-clamp arrangement with a 3" opening?

Apexi has an adapter piece to suit the TT or you can buy just a generic adapter piece to fit it. (i might have a pic of it - as i sold one a few months back) I used a generic adapter with some rubber hose to connect it to my afm (i have the vvti)

Here is a pic of my apexi pod and generic adapter i had a while back. The genuine apexi adapter piece i think has a longer neck on it, but as long as the adapter bolts up to the adapter then it does the same thing

hey Richard do you remember what the diameter was of the black piping? I've got a similar set-up to you and I've been thinking about sticking some piping down there and enclosing the pod.
