Just wondering what pricing you get over in australia for something like a transmission flush to something like amsoil synthetic ATF.

Having a flush done today with Type IV, I will see if I can find out what the labour charge for that part of the job is.

Yep, very easy :-) Just remove one of the trans cooler lines! drop about 2-3 litrs of fluid down the dipstick... Start car, allow a couple of litres to come out.. Repeat a few times until nice clean fluid coming out of trans cooler hose, and then your finished:-)

Make sure you disconnect the line from the trans cooler back to the trans, so the cooler gets a flush too :-)

Not really. Ideal situation is to have a pump.

There are alternatives,
http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/37/1366.html

I noticed judder going from 1st to 2nd at very slow speeds which wasn't picked up when I had the UZZ31 inspected before I bought it.

Judder can be from having any old ATF in the V8 gearbox, so I wanted it flushed out completely and replaced with Type IV.

Version one of the flush in the link above, simply dilutes the fluid, law of diminishing returns means there will always be some left.

Version 2 probably works pretty well, but right now I don't have the time for it. There may also be a risk of the pumps running dry etc.

So I opted for a power flush by people that do this professionally and know what they are doing.

Had the following work done on the C4 in my Mustang by Pringle Autos in North Melbourne:

Remove pan and valve body
Clean valve body
Remove selector shaft
Replace o rings on shaft
Replace vac modulator
Flush and replace fluid
Reassemble

$250. Took them about 3 hours.

I highly recommend Pringle. They've done stuff for me in the past, always been top notch. Highly knowledgeable about auto transmissions.

I agree with Peter & Miles, - I do 90% of my own repairs and servicing, but with the transmission after mucking about doing it myself at home, making a mess and being unhappy with the results, and then paying $230 for a professional job - its worth the money for a proper power flush.
