Help, 1st post so excuse me if I'm asking a question already discussed although I have been scanning and found nothing. I was Given, yes given a V8 Soarer in pretty clean condition with under 70k on the clock by a very frustrated owner who pulled most of his hair out trying to sort the car out, it had been sitting for 6 years!! So the story so far:, car drove although very reluctently onto a car trailer, and again off the trailer, after researching the net all faults led to the ECU Capacitors - Low revs, dash not lighting up, would sometimes rev well then stall and refuse to start. I replaced about half of the capacitors as I ordered the wrong ones but did replace the leaking one I found. Now I know i should have replaced them all but I didn't so this may well be my first mistake. The car ran better and I was able to drive it up to an astonishing 60kph, Dash lights all started working again and the engine idles well but still lacks that V8 punch, I can rev the CR*%P out of it in the driveway if I hit it slowly but if i hit it hard it dies and finally stalls So should I re visit the ECU and solve all my problems or is it worth checking other things first, It has had fresh fuel, new leads coils and plugs, have tested the fuel pump voltage and relay, tried a MAP but still no good. My plan is to bring her back to it's former glory and return it to it's previous owner as a gift

Hoping for some advice. This is my first post although I have been a member for years. I have a 94 SC400. Just recently it developed a usual problem discussed extensively on the forum. The EMV would not display info for a/c etc nor audio. Just a white screen. I have pulled it out and send it to Damian Ware for repairs. Then I hooked up the connectors near the gear shift so I could drive it. It starts easily, idles fine, does its systems check, no problems indicated, and then just dies after 15-20 seconds. I tried bridging FP to B+ but it does exactly the same thing. I have checked fuses, gone back over all that was disconnected to make sure nothing was shorting out, etc. Its got be stumped. The car was running fine before I took out the EMV. Does anyone have any ideas as to where I should be going from here?

What part of Perth are you in ? I am in Belmont/Redcliffe. I don't have a spare ecm but the one in my car seems to work ok , could temporarily swap them. I get an IAT and ECT error message but I suspect it's the sensors and not the ecm. It's a 1991 UZZ31

Thanks Tom. Can you give me some idea of where on the engine the immobiliser will be tied in. I have traced two wires coming through the firewall. One goes to the (after market) alarm which I disconnected some time ago and the second makes its way via a connector to the positive terminal of the battery. I disconnected that wire from the battery but this had no effect on the immobiliser or the problem I am having.

most are 3 way, they break Ignition, starter 12v, and fuel pump. normally wired in under dash/steering wheel. sorry i cannot be more specific.
I had problems with my car stalling, and removed the immobilizer and fixed the problem. At the same time i had a stuffed phase in the alternator that was giving a whine. a new rectifier assy fixed that problem. i have had thoughts that maybe the "whine" from the alternator was effecting the immobilizer, but have not reconnected it to check.
do you get a whine thru the radio from the alternator?
