Thats the one David. I am interested to know how you got an is300 airbag from the states and how much it cost? i was going to get one of those late model lexus 3 spokes out of a SC but the postage was like 250USD.
gated shifter tutes are on clublexus. i think there was one for sale too.

I bought two, the one that is on its way was from a wreck with 53,000kms on it. Cant remember exactly as i bought it a little while ago, it was around $650-$700 as it was mint. Spewing that ill be selling it as there would be no difference between it and brand new and considering brand new is aorund $3000. Other steering wheel was just under $500 from memory.
Anyone wanna give me money for a rental house deposit so i can keep the airbag ;-) pretty please haha
Also Ali can you link me to the gated shifter installs. Ive only ever seen a Jap website with a few pics of how to do it which didnt give me enough confidence. Specifically im looking for an english Celsior gated shifter tutorial. The US guys got luck as the late models got a gated shifter so they install them. Doubt there would be many in the US running LS400/LS430/Celsior gated shifters. Also really interested to find out if anyone has gone a JZX100 gated shifter, tute would be crazy awesome.

I just picked up an Altezza / IS300 wheel with the e-shift buttons, it came with the airbag removed but the centre piece attached still, and as my Soarer is a '91, this posed no problems.
Should be a straight fit, all I have to do is dremel a little piece out of the rear cover for the cruise control stalk, and eventually hook up a suprastick for the e-shift buttons.
Has anybody with this conversion found a new emblem to replace the "Altezza"? A toyota or lexus one would be nice

Its a bugger because the wheel is perfect otherwise.
The existing altezza one simply peels off but id rather it be on there than be blank. As far as I know the IS300 wheel originally used embossed rubber as a lexus emblem, but finding a metal badge to fit has proven a task and a half.
I've seen them on EBay, theyre out there, but not at the moment (just my luck!)

Exactly that Sebastian. How did you manage to get yourself a blown horn pad? Asking around all the wreckers, and EBay sellers, they sell only the horn outer piece, and simply throw the centre out if the airbag had deployed - bloody useless unless you're replacing an existing worn wheel.
I might scout around some dealerships and try and get a Lexus logo then.

I just asked the ebayer to send the blown horn pad with the wheel as his photo was of the steering wheel still in the car.
If I were you I'd just start contacting anyone on eBay who sells the steering wheels and ask if you can buy the centre. They just throw them out anyway so you'll probably get one for next to nothing.

That's what I did several times, to no avail. Came across an altezza one with everything intact, but the actual airbag removed from the centre. $150 posted thanks to the strong AUD How did you go about adapting the horn wiring to the Soarer? Or haven't gone that far yet?

That would be great Sebastian if you come across it. I came across Peter Nischke's tutorial for the removal of the stock wheel, but the wiring plug on the altezza wheel is a little strange. I'm pretty sure an adaptor is available from Toyota, but I'd have to ask around for those in the know (especially considering mine has the e-shift buttons)

Hey Michael and Sebastian now that the kit groupbuy is winding down i can finally after a year get back to forum pleasure reading. Anyway i got a brand new is300 airbag for sale if you like. Was going to do the whole supra stick thing but im probably not gonna bother with mine.
I see two problems, firstly i would prefer CAMs box but its impossible to get one from him as he doesnt ever answer emails. From my memory (this is going further than a year back now) CAMs box samples a lot more frequently than the Supra stick, something like 30 times a second compared to 2. Secondly its been a year and no one else has taken up the challenge of figuring this out and getting it right. Ive sort of given up the ghost as i got the airbag and wheel ready to go in, but no CAMs shifter ecu (again from memory it samples a shed load more than the supra stick thus why i dont want the supra stick as they are the same price practically). Secondly i was going to mate the e-shift wheel with CAMs box and then a gated shifter. I came across one SC400 gated shifter in the states but the labeling for the gear selection if on the wrong side (ie faces the passenger) so scarp that. Then there is the UCF20 gated shifter tutorial in Japanese however actually finding a wrecked UCF20 has been near impossible looking in Aus, NZ and Japan. Lastly i was going to use a Chaser gated shifter as they are plentiful but considering i got a rare factory black late model last thing i want to do is hack stuff up. Seeming as no one knows if the Chaser gated shifter will work im unwilling to go ahead with it because of the cars rarity.
So looks like no e-shift, no supra stick or CAMs box and no gated shifter for me. Quite pissed about it due to the amount of time i devoted to finding stuff out and sourcing parts but what can you do.
So if you guys want that airbag picture with the 'L" Lexus logo i can sell it to you guys. Would have been perfect for me as i actually for legality purposes needed to retain an airbag. If i didnt i would have scrapped this idea a while back and just gotten a Nardi or OMP wheel.

Fantastic mate, so what would you be chasing for just the emblem? I can swap for an Altezza one, but probably not a lot of use to you
I have found also the IS200 airbox badge is almost a perfect fit, but is fairly robust plastic, the upside being a chrome "L" emblem, but pending a decent price I may just get a rubber one.

David, pretty sure that cams box couldn't be mated to the buttons anyway. Plus, cams box doesn't sample anything as it is not a replacement auto Ecu, it just over rides the standard Ecu where as the suprastick is a complete replacement. If you have a manual Ecu with a suprastick you will still have an auto mode, if you have a manual Ecu with cams shift box you will only have manual mode.
I'll be doing the suprastick conversion once I get my new 19" work vs rims polished, painted and installed, my ride height adjusted to suit, my exhaust fixed (squashed it because my cars too low), replace my coil pack and injector plugs, get my car tuned, install a car pc, paint and install my carbon fibre bonnet and bodykit as well as my chrome window trims and 94 tail lights then repair my steering wheel and it's suprastick time. So really, it's just around the corner, probably around the year 2022 I should finally get to this haha.

Michael i just looked at the is300 airbag and there is no way the 'L' will come off anyway. Seems to be the same plastic or whatever the entire airbag is made of.
