I was just sitting here in my office pondering over a nice hot cup of Jasmine tea i procured from "Dr. Tea", critically aclaimed #1 tea house in Beijing (and most of China) when i had the thought "How does a Soarer compare to a Veyron?".
OBVIOUSLY in essentually every aspect of performance the Veyron kills any Soarer, modified or not (Except those crazy drag ones), but what about other European and American sports/performance cars?
You hear the car shows and magazines throwing around your typical "OMG THIS CAR IS AMAZING IT CAN GO 1-100kph IN LIKE 4SECONDS ON 300BHP!" .. but what about a typical modified car?
The official 1-100kph stat for a stock TT is touted at 6.9s and the v8.. slower.
How about a typically modified TT/v8 running 230rwkw (~300rwhp?)?
Brockas' TT putting out ~300rwhp has done low 12.9sec runs up the 1/4mile with i think mid 1.8sec 60' times, what would that roughly equate to in 1-100kph logic? How about a similarly powered v8 running similar 1/4mile times?
Just curious as i havent seen this discussed before, and i am unable to turn anything up in threads.

i think the torque delivery is more important than the actual horsepower. So comparing a v8 supercharged and TT both with 300rwhp. The v8 would likely to get a lower time? my guess anyway.

I have tried a G-Tech on my car. At the DRags Officially, It has run 12.9 @ 107.4 mph with a 1.89 60 footer. My car has a sheet for 195 rwkw at 14.7-15.0 psi. We did a cpl of runs at 15.5psi on yesterday and saw 207 rwkw( forgot to get printout )
On my Greddy full timer, it has attack times and everything. I have seen a best of 5.4 seconds for 0-100km/h at the track.
Dont forget, Americans use the old 0-60 mph. Which is only 96km/h i think. So times from ours to theirs would vary a fraction.

1km/h roll ons hehe. Here is a good idea Callum. Go to this website: http://www.albeedigital.com/supercoupe/articles/0-60times.html Go Ctrl-F to bring up find and then put in like 13.1. Then keep going through and having a look at what it highlights, will show what your car is equal to and about what the 0-100 is equal to. I put 13.9 in and it is about equal to a mid 5 second 0-100 time! I think 6.9sec would be very conservative for a stock TT, I would say closer to six flat.

Mind you, I have only tried the 0 - 100km/h thing 3 times, hehe. Turbo cars will generally do the 2nd 1.8th mile about 0.4-0.5 seconds faster than a naturally aspirated car though.
Then again, Maybe my soarer could do it in 5 flat or something better? will have to borrow a mates Gtech meter next drags. Best way to tell.

David, i like to be different ;)
Interesting site, Luke. 2006 Bentley Continental Flying Spur (twin-turbo W-12) 4.6 13.1 (R&T Aug. '05) 1993 Toyota Supra Turbo 4.6 13.1 (C&D Mar '93) I have a TT as well, do 13.1 up the straight, so one would suggest i can also do 4.6! ;D
I think that site prolly answers my questions really.
Ok... how about top speeds? =P

I have a G Tech and the best I have got is 4.97sec/100km/h. I have 295rwkw. This figure was on an average bitumen road with normal street tyres. Drag strip with Drag radials would be significantly quicker but at least the above is a real world situation.

How quick did you go at Carnarvon the other weekend Troy?
Callum, I don't think they are too far off the mark, maybe subtract around half a second? Then again on your 13.1 you may very well have got their in the mid fours with all the track prep and stuff.

Absolutely no grip on the runway. Spinning in first and second and not much better in the higher revs in third. Got beaten in the final by a WRX from Karratha. He just had too much grip. I did pull 139km/h over the 1/8 mile through with the WRX only pulling 125km/h so might have caught him over 1/4 mile. I will put up a post this week hopefully outlining events and results.

I got the RSM to give me a 5.27 with a smidge of wheel spin. It uses the factory speed sensor as a signal, i.e. it replicates what the dash says, so thats its accuracy limit. Definately a tenth or two to be gained with practice and settings, but to jump straight in and light it up in 5.27 is good. Remember, those magazine guys are pretty good drivers, and have been getting paid to do it for years, and often test it on a decent surface.
