Hi guys
I am getting two cars from interstate and wondering if anyone can provide any advice in regards.
Both cars are coming from Brisbane to Perth. From my research when they come to Perth both have to go over the pits and get inspected before being rego'd.
Also does anyone know how I can check interstate encumberances etc to ensure no money is owing on either? How do I get a proof of ownership once I've paid? Thanks

as far as i know to check for encumberances or any finance owing you need the vin number and plate number and just need to ring motor reg and they can check on there system to see if there are any finances owing. the only reason they go over the pits is for an id check to make sure that the cars dont have any stolen parts on them or are not stolen themselves.

Hi Josh.
i'm in the exact same process as you - except my cars are on their way from vic after being complied! well done on your purchases however, i stalked them on here and they look magnificent!
in short - you can drive them for a few weeks with qld rego - but they have to go over the pits and be registered and treated the same as a "first time rego" car.
my advice regarding registration of the cars, is the dept of transport will tell you straight off the bat that for a car to be registered, it has to be in complete stock form with everything working in order to attain road worthiness.
but reality is - it depends on the officer you get at inspection. some people get their cars registered with the coilovers on. other vehicles will get knocked back for an oil leak that's not even there..
as for the documents - get the seller to scan and email / fax ALL documentation to you. take it from there
as for attaining proof of ownership. just send the seller a letter titled SALES CONTRACT
saying
"I ____ ___ of (his address) hereby surrender ownership of toyota soarer reg. _____ VIN ____ to the new owner ___ ___ of (your address) on the date of ____/____/2010
signed by you, then signed by him
that is an unofficial contract - it's proof enough make sure you keep your own copies!

Hi Rowan, Josh owns a 96/11 VVTI that we complied here in W.A along with 4 other 97 VVTIs !only thing i can think of is they must have run out of plates now.how did you go on for new tyres at comliance ,make sure you get the old ones back if they are good also try and get the cat back as the JP ones are the best. I have taken 30+ Soarers over the pits in W.A so email me if i can be of any help.

you're very kind to offer so far at this point i think i'll need all the help i can get - and yes... all the plates have pretty much run out because none of the shops can see any money in bringing them in anymore which - frankly i understand. west australians want purely new cars it seems
don't even get me started on how people think that buying a "hail damaged car" is how you "get a bargain" and "importing a car is a risky process"
=/
WA people are retarded. must be something in the bongwater.
anyway - yeah i know Josh has many VVT soarers. i'm a little jealous. haha but yeah - i tried literally every registed Z30 shop in WA for this - it's easier for me to get work done in VIC anyway because my broker handles it all that way... as opposed to me having to try to organise it all during work hours.
new tyres @ compliance - not necessary for me. one soarer has 18's. my soarer has 17's. so no point in RAW making me buy new tyres anyway, because the wheels aren't registerable in the first place... get me?
as for getting my bits n pieces back - don't worry the shop is looking after me!
(again - it's easier for me to get compliance in VIC because the shop is mate of my broker so they kinda just "do it" rather than keep the goal posts moving and then charge me 5 grand because they decide to dump every single fluid in the car and invoice me without telling me etc...
i assume parts i will need to attain rego will be orig tyres, orig suspension, and orig exhausts (but i may be able to get the car complied with the coilovers and exhausts - it's really all dependent on how the RAW handle the cars)
but thanks for the help man - i'll be in touch for sure needing advice i think!

actually take two with that one - i tried every compliance shop - but there is every chance i may have missed one..
doesn't matter though, cars are already halfway trough their compliance stage - everything has gone greatly and "bump" free so in reality i really can't complain!!
