Hypothetically, could one refinish chrome wheels to a less glitzy finish like satin silver, or would it be best to replace them?

Of course, you could get the chrome stripped off and then get them powder coated. Probably easier to sell them to some fully sick fullah and get new wheels though.

Removing chrome by hand is an arse of a job, so if you do it I'd recommend taking it to a sandblaster or chemical stripper.
