Had a weekend playing with soarers... (wheel bearings on a mates car)
also got to discussing another mates rear suspension failure on a Mk III supra (VERY similar rear suspension to the soarer) where the rear toe control rod failed.
My thoughts is the poly bush in the toe control rod caused failure.
The rod being so short any movement in the other arms allowing the hub to move forward and back is going to cause a bending moment where the rod section is welded to the bushed end that bolts to the subframe, this would be amplified with a powerful car with big tires and big brakes.

Allan whats the OEM bush is it rubber with a center bush and outer sleeve? if it is than what your thinking is wrong as the rubber will give more than the poly.

That is the problem the Poly has no give in it, the factory rubber ones are heavily voided to allow movement

sorry i misunderstood what you meant. i think it could be possible to cause the failure but you cant rule out other factors like the car may have kissed a gutter at some point or rust chewing out the arm. can you get any pictures of the damaged arm as it may show what caused it.

nah not rust, there was a small section of the break dirty but 80% was a clean break right on the factory weld...
This car had 410rwkw, big AP brakes and big tires so its a worst case, just a bit of a "be careful" for anyone else out there putting poly bushes in all the arms....
