So while driving down an extremely bumpy road it seems the needle to my tach has fallen down and will move only slightly. The needle now points down, is this common? Does anyone know how to fix it?

LOL! It is a very common problem, and from what I have been told, very expensive too! My tach sags as well, I now high idle on 0, and low idle is around -400 now, Haha I want to get it fixed.. One day.

The tach needle has just displaced itself from the end of it's pole , if you carefully pull the instrument cluster out and pull it apart enough to get the face off you can in most cases just push it back on again , just be careful to get it in the right position first !!

I think I'm going to attempt to pull it apart this weekend, it appears my speedo needle is only lit half way so hopefully I can fix that as well.

Don't forget to disconnect the battery first! Or you'll have to do a wire dance to clear the airbag alarm

Let me know how you go Mike, I have this same issue. It happened one day when my steering wheels tilt motor got stuck so I gave the steering wheel a firm thump on top of it. It made the tilt work again but the tacho jumped right off. It does still move but only in the high RPM range. I was going to try what Rich suggested as that was also my assumption. Wouldn't be an expensive repair. Most simple problems have a simple resolution. Take some pics of the process mate.

I will be tackling the problem tonight and I'll definitely be taking pictures. Unfortunately the airbag light is already on, maybe this has happened before.

Try this link for the airbag removal, http://home.vicnet.net.au/~pgscott/dashrepair/dashrepair.htm (its right down the bottom of the page) It applys to a soarer but im sure they are the same. Can anyone confirm this?

The airbag light only comes into play if you have the instrument panel unplugged and turn the ignition switch on , so as long as you don't turn the key when the instrument panel is out you will be OK . Of course it's idiot proof if you just take the earth lead off the batt . It's not hard to reset it , I'll post up the method when I find it .

Well it didn't go well, it looks like the tach is definitely no good. A spring had let go and I'm not sure that I'll be able to fix it myself. Although the tach does come out easy enough, anyone have a spare one kicking around?

Dave I'm in Kingston which is about 15 mins from the center of Brisbane , I can always test it in my car , this is what I would do for any instrument panel that is going to travel . Doesn't matter so much if I'm fitting it so I would probably just fit it too your car in person if you live not too far away . Mike I couldn't see freight being over the $70.00 mark to Canada as the panel does'nt weigh much , will get an exact price on freight for you . If you have a spare unit you can play with yours til your hearts content !!

I know where kingston is, That is where I bought my Celsior from, (just behind all jap parts on kingston rd) Surprized I haven't seen you around. Only celsior I know of in that area is a silver one with a big kit on it. Parks in front of all jap. What does yours look like? I will pull the panel out this weekend and see if I cant fix it myself (also going to try swap a few cabs on the curcuit board to see if I can work out this temp guage issue),if I cant fix the tacho I believe I will be purchasing one of your panels. Thanks Rich.

Mine is a green one with a full limo tint , has mesh 18 x 9.5 with 265/35/18's on the back and 8.5 with 235/40/18's on the front . Big dish on the rear rims and if it's stationary you'll be able to see the big 4 pots and 315 disc's on the front as well . Also has green L.E.D park lights and HID's .

A celsior I recently test drove before buying my Limited had a dash tachometer problem. It would lag behind what was really happening, say you got to 50km/h it would take a long time to get up to that speed so it looked like you were accelerating very slowly, same with when you accelerated it was a very lazy needle. Obviously there was a problem with the needle module or speed sensor? Has anyone heard of this problem before?

Yes the needles come loose on their posts , just pull the dash out and dismantle it enough to get to the needle , make sure it's in the right position and push it back onto it's post...carefully !! Have done this job twice now .

Well its all complete. Just had to clock the tacho around to about 9000rpm then when i released, it returned to a start position of around 1000, so I slowly turned it back until it sat on 0. If anyone else has this issue and would like more info I will have no problem with walking you through it. Cheers for all the help.

I am definitely interested in taking a panel of your hands, does it come with the lens as well.....I may have cracked mine in the process. Apparently I'm not so good with being careful and gentle while I work!

I'm sure had I been more careful taking my panel apart it would have been fixable. Now the tach is in a couple pieces....
