It's unlikely to be the motor itself or even anything to do with the idle control unit , but you should take it apart and replace the two little bearings in there anyway as they are well overdue to be done and it's easy and cheap to do. At the same time you can make sure it's spinning freely on the thread that makes it move in and out . This will remove that unit from the thought process . I would be looking at replacing the temp gauge sensor AND the ECU temp sensor , three time's now I have found that the reason it idles fast is that the ECU is telling it to idle fast because of crook info , it thinks that the temp is colder than it actually is as the sensor is reading incorrect , they cost about $20.00 each , you can run the meter across them to make sure they are with limits but it's just as easy to replace them . You also need to check the throttle position and the cold start injector as well .
