Was hoping to see if anyone knew if extractors are/were available for the Celsior/LS-400? Where from, and who? Or, if anyone knew who could modify a set of Soarer extractors to fit the Celsior? Cheers

Ok, so Ive worked out that no one knows where to get extractors for their Celsior. Can anyone tell me if they have a set fitted? Then I can continue the hunt for someone that may be able to make. All Ive worked out thus far is that the left extractor from the V8 Soarer fits, and the drivers side needs to be heavily modified to fit.

You can always get a set custom made.
Or find someone who has a Celsior front cut (with the motor still in) and obtain a set of Soarer extractors to test fit, see exactly how much has been modified.
There have been a few people on Lextreme with Celsior's who have fitted extractors, however, I can't remember if they have been LHD or RHD, and from memory they have all had them custom built (either themselves or by a shop).
All that said, extractors would be one of the last things I'd do to a Celsior. The stock headers flow the best of the stock types. I've seen people pull the same rwkw with celsior headers as I have seen with extractors. However, I don't know how the rest of the rpm compares.
For the price of a custom set of extractors you can be halfway to an M90 s/c kit. And I know what I'd chose between extractors or 4psi...

This website lists a set of headers for the 1uzfe engine but doesn't say which vehicle they will fit. However, they do supply a dimensions diagram. Might be worth giving them a buzz to find out if they would fit.

So true Andrew. Rang a mob in Sydney today, and they casually said $2500, just for the extractors! And saw a mate that does exhausts for a living, and at mates rates its $1500, then have to fit the system behind it.
It just feels like a slug off the mark, but once the car is moving you can feel it wants to let loose. That's why I was under the impression that extractors would help. It has a sports system, I just wanted the performance to match the sound
Thanks for the link Tristan. Will take a look

Generally speaking, extractors reduce low end torque, so they'll make the car feel slower to take off. A well designed set of extractors will make this almost negliable though.
If you want the car to feel quicker off the line, then fit a 4.1:1 diff with LSD. You'll use more fuel cruising, but it will feel much quicker.

I have been looking at getting a jig made up for Extractors for the Cel by one of the best custom guys here in Brisbane . I would have to order 10 sets to make it worth his while , they would be 4 into 2 into 1 units and nearly equal length designed specifically for the Celsior , this would preserve the bottom end and give you increased mid range , around 25 HP more ,the engine would also rev out a bit quicker and be a bit more economical in normal use . Cost per set would be about $1100.00 . I would need ten people to give deposits to this guy before I hit the go button . I have seen a fair bit of his work and he is a pro. Have a look at his site. http://www.cesracing.com.au/

Aaron fitting the headers on would probably be easier than getting the standard manifolds off !! But I'm just guessing , from others that have done it it's not a complicated job , just a tricky time consuming one !!

Thanks Andrew and Rich.
In some of the other threads, I have been looking at what is worthwhile and what isnt. My Celsior is a little run down, considered selling it, wouldnt get SFA for it, and having just rented a holden statesmen for 6 days (apparently, thats an UPGRADE from an Aurion?)I really have come to apprieciate how good these 20 year old beasts are, and so Im going to renew all my suspension components first. My bags (baby) are in pretty good nick as far as I can tell, not having a UCF11 with new bags in it on hand to compare with, but the front end is rattly as all hell.
So begins the pocket emptying excercise . Headers, blower and other bits can wait for fitting, but it's nice to know they will be available. Im in for a set when they are ready, will leave in the garage for the time being.

The S&S headers have been mentioned a few times on this site, and of course a lot on Lextreme and clublexus sites.
The biggest issue was wether they would suit RHD models; I never got to follow up a confirmation on that. I dont know what they would foul on, perhaps steering possibly, but you dont know until you try I guess....

You don't NEED extractors if your going to supercharge, The stock headers on the Celsior will support a supercharger no problem. It will just create more power with a set.
Mate of mine had over 200rwkw's with stock headers in his Celsior.
And the debate of tri-y and 4 into 1, is a general rule but its not set in concrete, majority of the extractors you see for the ls1's are 4 into 1 and have been known to make more power with no compromise on low down torque then the tri-y design.
In regard to S&S headers fitting rhd ls400/celsiors, i have seen a celsior for sale in the past with a set of s&s's fitted, couldn't tell you if they were modded to fit tho, but it has been done.

Theres a bit of a write up on lextreme about adding a supra carrier and lsd centre. It involves a lot of work though, i.e. drilling the subframe, welding a nut to it to allow a four point mounted diff (i.e. supra) to attach to the LS400 subframe.
